Timothy Bear is a very shy and sensitive bear who needs lots of hugs.
When he first arrived we quickly realised he was rather timid and a little nervous so we made him a little teddy bear of his own to comfort him........ It just so happened that at around the same time the group 'Sqioba Luaidh', who specialise in Gaelic work songs, visited the Railway Station to *waulk a Harris Tweed length of woven wool.
Timothy loved the softness of the finished tweed so much that we knew he would have to have some of his own and so now he has a very special comfort blanket that he takes everywhere with him...... Sometimes we hear him softly humming the gaelic tunes that the Sgioba Luaidh group taught him on their visit.
*waulk - The technique of finishing newly woven tweed by soaking and rhythmically beating it to shrink and soften it.
