Morven is a very skilled little bear with a passion for knitting and especially the ancient tradition of Shetland Lace Knitting. She is keen to preserve this wonderful tradition and loves to wear her beautiful hand knitted miniature replica of a Shetland Hap* and Makkin* while knitting. Morven is currently working on her latest project using double ended needles and a vibrant hand dyed wool.
Her love of all things handmade will make her a lovely, inspiring, crafting companion.
*Hap - meaning to cover, wrap or keep warm and used to describe the traditional everyday wear of Shetland women
*Makkin - traditional Shetland knitting belt which was worn for most of the day allowing the wearer to knit whenever there was a spare moment - even when walking to market with dried fish or walking home with a “kishie” full of peat.
