You may remember that over recent weeks Bertie Button had been behaving very suspiciously. Seemingly desperate to discover what Liz and I were secretly working on he was caught, more than once, watching us when he thought we weren't looking and, on one occasion, he was even found tip toeing around the cottage, long after little bears should be tucked up in bed, carrying bags of oats and straw.
Well it turns out Bertie HAD discovered our secret !
Now they do say that life if full of surprises and I have to say that Bertie has certainly surprised me for, despite almost bursting with excitement, he managed to keep our secret, and what a relief that is as such important information in the paws of a notoriously naughty bear could have been disastrous.....I'm guessing he knew we couldn't talk about any commission work until it was no longer a secret but for a bear like Bertie that was a very big thing to keep to himself !
The commission in question was the lovely Tokyo bear and his horse Hope, created as a mascot for the Para Equestrian Ireland Team but now that they are in their new home we can share this story.
But wait !
There's more !
Hope was ready to go to his new home a few days before Tokyo was ready. When Bertie realised this he worried that Hope might be lonely and maybe a little nervous while he waited for Tokyo to join him so, every night, as soon as everyone else was asleep, he would visit Hope. He would feed and groom him and make sure he knew he wasn't alone. I think Bertie and Hope became great friends.
I'm really rather proud of my little bear......perhaps he isn't just a naughty ted after all.
