At dog walking time today Bertie announced that instead of climbing into my coat pocket, as he would normally do, he would like to bring his lovely new bike and practise riding it on the farm track while I played with Ollie and his ball. I readily agreed and off we set.
Very soon Bertie was happily riding, albeit a bit wobbly, up and down the track and promising to catch me up so I wandered ahead.
After a few minutes I turned round to see how Bertie was doing only to find that what Bertie had done was disappear !
What a fright ! Had he fallen ? Was he hurt ?
I ran back to where I'd last seen him only to spot him, not on the track but coming out of the woods........Now correct me if I'm wrong but he looked a little guilty to say the least .........and why were there a bundle of sticks tied to the back of his bike ....
A little shame faced but offering no explanation Bertie climbed onto his bike and followed.... and this time I kept a close eye on him upon which it soon became apparent that little bears with little legs can't cycle quite as far as they think ! Luckily for Bertie his faithful friend Ollie realised he was struggling and lent a helping paw.....and I got to carry the bike home.
Not surprisingly Bertie disappeared when we got home, no doubt to avoid any questions or so I thought, but no, Bertie was being quiet for a completely different reason ......
Oh Bertie Button what ARE you up to now !!!!
